Epic Traveler Photos – July 2020 Share Tweet Thanks to everyone who entered our MSSI Traveler photo contest this month! We had AMAZING entries! Here are our staff favorites of the entries we received! Be prepared to be inspired. 1st Place: Easter Reunion (David B.) “This special moment was captured at Ascension Macomb -Oakland in Warren. I was arriving on Easter morning for my COVID-19 ICU shift and my wife Dr. Emily Broomell was just finishing a shift of COVID admissions overnight and came to visit me. Being the first time we’d seen each other since Good Friday, it was meaningful to both of us. We’re both very grateful that they’ve been uniquely positioned to help people in Detroit during the coronavirus crisis.” – David B. 2nd place: Solo adventures in Alaska (Paul J.) “Solo adventures and adventures with travelers, best times of my life.” – Paul J. 3rd Place: Walk on the Wild Side (Carol W.) “This picture was taken in September of 2018. I decided to walk on the wild side with the Lions in Senegal for my birthday. Friends and family said “hope your life insurance is paid up!” I said “yes it is, but I don’t know if it will cover being mauled by a lion.” You have to have a sense of humor and adventure to be a Nurse. 😂😂😂” – Carol W. And our fabulous honorable mentions… “My wife and I were able to take a break between assignments last year and travel to Iceland for our friend’s wedding. We saw the most amazing rainbows and waterfalls. We also were able to experience some black sand beaches!” – Ben L. “This photo was taken at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan in July 2020. I was on a hiking trip with my travel RT friend who is between assignments right now. The northern Midwest is seriously the best in the summer. The weather is absolutely perfect and there’s so many beautiful places to see, including here in Michigan.” – Danielle C. “On my last day at my travel assignment, many of my coworkers made a sign and took a group picture with me. The sign said “Please don’t leave, we need you Drew!” I had a great time, staff was very welcoming. My contract felt like it flew by so quickly!” – Drew “Solo adventures and adventures with travelers, best times of my life.” – Paul J. “I traced my family roots back to Africa and as a birthday gift to myself, I decided travel to the land of my ancestors. Here I am between assignment living my best life and skipping through the sands of the Lompoul Desert in Senegal Africa.” – Carol W. “We’re at the Minnehaha Falls, part of the Minnehaha Regional Park. Fun fact: the park was designed by landscape architect Horace Cleveland in 1883 as part of popular steamboat Upper Mississippi River “Fashionable Tour” in the 1800s. When I came to Minnesota, I didn’t expect to do any activities since most places were closed or restricted due to COVID. Thankfully parks like the one pictured were open so we can see and experience the outdoors, fresh air and beauty of Minnesota.” – Gina D. “This past summer my wife and I took a break between assignments to drive the Alaskan Highway in our self-converted camper van all the way from Wisconsin. We put on over 10 Thousand miles and stopped at 8 different national parks along the way. These are some pics from the trip!” – Ben L. Related Post navigation Traveler of the Quarter – Pavel O.
