The travel nurse lifestyle is an exciting and crazy one! Whether you’re just starting out as a brand new traveler or you’re on your 12th assignment, we’ve picked out a few of our favorite (and FREE) apps that will help you simplify your life.
Nextdoor. Nextdoor is an app that will let you connect with your new neighbors and allow you to stay in the know about what’s going on in your neighborhood—whether it’s learning about an upcoming block party or hearing about a rash of car break-ins.
Google Drive. Keeping all of your employment files (medical information, certifications, transcripts, etc.) in one place that you can always access is ideal for travel nurses. Any file you upload, whether a document, PDF, photo, or video, can be reached from any smartphone, tablet or computer and shared with others easily.
Wifi Map. There are tons of WiFi apps available, but WiFi Map is the most popular app with great reviews. The app works from people (who have connected to WiFi at a certain place) sharing the passwords and other hotspots in your area.
Airbnb. Find a place to live for your next assignment through the Airbnb app which lets you book your housing with the tap of a button. Search by location, date, price, and amenities. Whether you need a private room in someone’s home or a place all to yourself, you can find it through Airbnb!
Citymapper. If you’re planning on using public transportation, you’ll definitely want to look at Citymapper, an app that is continually adding new cities. Citymapper offers riding sharing, shows you the fastest way to arrive at your destination, and best of all, lets you check out subway and train times for a number of cities.
PackPoint.Never forget your ___ again! PackPoint will check the weather at your destination and take into consideration how long you’ll be there for to come up with a custom packing list that you can also share with your travel mates.
VSCO.Edit your photos and videos from your adventures with VSCO, an app that features film-like presets and editing tools for cropping, straightening, correcting exposure, color and sharpness.
