Ahh, spring is here and now you’re faced with figuring out where you should go for your next travel assignment. Luckily we know our assignment locations inside and out and can tell you the best places worth traveling for this season. Here are five favorite travel nurse destinations.
San Jose, CA
Perfectly nestled in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the heart of Silicon Valley is the city of San Jose. In May, temps average in the 70s so grab a bite at In-N-Out Burger and head to downtown to check out the Tech Museum of Innovation, featuring an out-of-this-world space simulator and a terrifying earthquake simulator, among other mind-blowing exhibits. The weather in Wisconsin is warming up, so if you don’t have the eNLC, apply for your Wisconsin license (takes less than two weeks!) and head to the Dairy State. Marshfield is a great base for all of your adventures on your days off. Move this to the top of your must-see list: Pewit’s Nest Gorge in Baraboo, WI. Minneapolis has been popping up on every travel blog and magazine’s lists of places you should go and for good reason. Not only is this “twin city” and its surrounding suburbs booming with the some of the coolest new businesses, but there’s plenty of parks and lakes to explore on your days off. Grab a donut ice cream sandwich at Milkjam Creamery and then head over to Lake Calhoun for bike ride around the park. To see what travel nurse assignments we have in Minnesota, click here.
Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Wisconsin is so beautiful in the spring and summer, we had to have it on the list twice. One of the best ‘small towns’ to visit in the country, Eau Claire is full of its own local breweries (check out Lazy Monk Brewing) an infamous downtown farmers market full of delicious food carts, live music and local artists, and people floating down the river on inflatable tubes on warmer days. If you’ve never taken an assignment on the east coast, now is the perfect time. From seeking thrills at Six Flags New England to visiting the Titanic Historical Society Museum, there is something for everyone. And if you’re looking for a mini road trip, you’re in luck. (Boston: 1h 30 m, Cape Cod: 2h 30m, New York City: 2h 45m.) To see what travel nurse assignments we have in Massachusetts, click here.
